What is facial mesotherapy?
Facial mesotherapy is an aesthetic medical rejuvenation treatment , in which the face is treated with medicines, homeopathy, vitamins, minerals, amino acids and hyaluronic acid, substances with beneficial properties for skin health.
This technique serves to prevent the appearance of wrinkles and combat skin aging . Mesotherapy is an alternative medicine technique invented in 1952 by the French physician Michel Pistor, although some variants have been practiced in spa medicine in France since the 1930s.
The name comes from the layer of the skin to which the substances are applied, derived from the embryonic mesoderm. It is attributed an effect in the treatment of pain, acute and chronic; some sports medicine specialists use it to soothe pain caused by sports injuries. There is an International Society of Mesotherapy with representatives from 14 countries in Europe and South America.
Benefits of facial mesotherapy
Facial mesotherapy is used as an aesthetic medical treatment in different procedures such as: improving scars, acne, psoriasis, vitiligo, freckles, flaccidity, metabolic alteration of fat and localized fat.
In addition, it has some additional advantages: It is an excellent technique for the prevention of premature aging, improving the appearance of wrinkles and expression lines.
It also revitalizes, regenerates and hydrates the skin from the inside as it activates blood microcirculation, stimulating the formation of new collagen and elastin fibers, substances responsible for skin density and elasticity. Thanks to its antioxidant power, it brings shine, freshness and greater consistency to the skin; offering a new much healthier and more uniform tissue.
How long does facial mesotherapy take to take effect?
Facial mesotherapy treatment is an outpatient treatment that does not require hospitalization or anesthesia. Between 7 and 12 sessions of 10 to 30 minutes are applied, depending on the area to be treated.
The effects of facial mesotherapy will be evident after 5 to 8 days after treatment . Patients will be able to see how their skin is more luminous, glowing and hydrated. The duration of facial mesotherapy depends on the age and condition of the skin, ranging from 2 to 3 weeks with permanent effects in some cases.
Recommendations on facial mesotherapy
During treatment, the patient should drink plenty of water to eliminate toxins and avoid alcohol intake, as well as sun exposure of the treated area for a few days.
Are there more types of mesotherapy?
Yes, in addition to facial mesotherapy, there are two more types of mesotherapy treatments: body mesotherapy and hair mesotherapy.
These treatments can be based on microinjections to reduce cellulite and localized adiposities, although there is also non-invasive mesotherapy that uses other systems such as patches; Hair mesotherapy treats hair loss and/or its strengthening.
Contraindications of facial mesotherapy
Mesotherapy is not indicated in patients with allergies, skin diseases, coagulation or circulatory problems, cancer or infectious diseases. It is not recommended in pregnant or lactating women.
It is important that the patient undergo a prior medical evaluation to determine if he is a candidate for treatment and to assess the amount necessary to obtain the desired results. In addition, it is essential to follow the doctor’s instructions for skin care after treatment to ensure a successful recovery and long-lasting results.
